Salt Dough!
Salt dough recipe : For decoration: we will paint with acrylics and varnish with pva glue
1 cup of plain all purpose flour
1 cup of salt
half a cup of water

Tip your dried mix into a bowl and combine, next add the water slowly and mix. You can also add a couple of teaspoons of cooking oil to the mix, This wasn’t in our recipe but ive seen it added in other recipes, We will try that next time and see what the difference is 🙂

Once your mixture becomes a rough dough ball, turn it out onto a floured work surface and kneed well for a few minutes until smooth and pliable.

Here we have Hebe’s creation! She decided to make and decorate her initial H for Hebe! She also made a small cat 🙂

We baked our projects in a pre-heated oven on 100 degrees C. The length of time we needed to cook them for varied on the size of the project, for instance the small ornament bottom right was done in 30 minutes but the larger H decoration needed an hour. We followed a recipe to make small tree decorations so the baking part we muddled through!!! The dough didnt seem to change color at all in the oven so i guess you could bake it for longer if you felt it necessary. I have come across another salt dough recipe that says to bake at 145 decrees c for an hour for the medium sized pieces and up to 2 hours for the larger ones!! I guess what I like about this is that its just basic ingredients and you can play around with the recipe and tailor it to suit you. The creativity is endless and you can get some great results! You can even color the dough before you play with it! make a bake-able play dough!! Get creative and have fun with the kids (or on your own :))
