Crayon art!

This was our first ever attempt at crayon art. First you need to make sure you have crayola crayons as so ive been told these ones melt well. We used pva glue to stick them along the top of our canvas and then left them to dry. Then we got side tracked and went to the beach and then had friends to play at the house and dada da da da.....9:30 pm we realised "oh we didnt do that crayon thing.......... Ok so you need a hair dryer set to hot but NOT on hard blow( this causes lots of splatter of HOT wax). Hold you canvas upright but with a slight tilt, and watch the wax run!!!

Looking good huh! The wax is running and doing its job! I would recommend using more light colors as we found ours came out to dark...we just randomly stuck them on there, browns, blacks, dark blues ect . Would have been better with more reds, pinks, pale blues..But you can customize yours to taste :)

hhhmmmm it went kind of dark....We held the hair dryer on there for a good 20-30 minutes i'm sure...I was thinking that seeing as there is still wax left in the crayons ,maybe we could stand it in the sun and see what happens!? Ive also had an idea to get the kids to draw onto the wax with tooth picks or plain old pensils and etch through the wax! but thats one for tomorrow as right now is too late(the moons is out and thats not going to melt the wax).

I would like to recommend to you all that you do this project on a well covered table or in someone else's house! the wax stains your dinning table and also if you had your hair dryer on a top fast setting the floor also gets covered in splatter marks!....:\ we did that...As you attempt to hoover (stupid idea to try and hoover wax hahahah but it was late) the wax just draws itself around the floor making pretty patterns!!!! just cover up the table folks!!
